Encounter Christ through the sacred signs of God's grace
The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. They are visible rites recognized by the Church as being instituted by Jesus Christ to confer the grace they signify. Through the sacraments, we encounter Christ in a real and tangible way, receiving His grace for our spiritual journey.
The foundation of Christian life
Baptism is the first sacrament and the door to the Christian life. Through baptism, we are freed from sin, reborn as children of God, and become members of the Body of Christ and heirs of the Kingdom.
Confirmation completes baptismal grace. Through the anointing with Sacred Chrism, it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action.
The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life. In this sacrament, we receive the Body and Blood of Christ, truly present under the appearances of bread and wine.
Christ's healing touch in our lives
The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also called Confession or Penance, is where we receive God's forgiveness for our sins. Through this sacrament, we are reconciled with God and the Church.
This sacrament gives strength, peace, and courage to those who are seriously ill or elderly. Through the anointing with holy oil and prayers, the sick person receives grace and healing.
Called to serve God and His people
Holy Orders is the sacrament through which men are ordained as bishops, priests, or deacons to serve the Church. They receive a special grace to act in the person of Christ, serving His people.
The Sacrament of Matrimony unites a baptized man and woman in a lifelong covenant of faithful love. Through this sacrament, spouses help each other attain holiness and welcome and educate children.
